What a custody calendar needs that a normal calendar lacks
A regular calendar app knows about events. A custody calendar has to know about people: which parent has the children on each day, when the handover happens and where, and what to do when one of you needs to change a day. It also has to remember what actually happened, not just what was planned.
CoParent's calendar is built around those three things: colour-coded parenting time per parent, exchange events with a time and a location, and swaps and attendance recorded against the day itself.
Inside the calendar
Switch between week and month view. Each day shows whose parenting time it is, the exchange if there is one, and anything else scheduled for the children.
- Event types: custody (parenting time), exchange (pickup or drop-off), school, medical and sports
- Custody blocks are all-day date ranges; repeat a regular block for several weeks in one step
- Exchanges carry a time and a location such as the school gate
- Request or offer a swap on a custody or exchange day; the other parent accepts or declines in one tap
- A fair-swap suggestion (Premium) when you want the app to propose a balanced trade
- Mark a day on time, late (with minutes) or missed, so attendance is recorded where it happened
- A reminder about an hour before the next exchange
Swaps without the back-and-forth
A work trip lands on your Thursday. Instead of a thread of texts, you tap the day, choose Request swap and add a short message. The other parent sees it in their Swap requests with Accept and Decline buttons. If they accept a custody swap, the calendar updates for both of you; if they decline, nothing changes and the request is recorded either way.
A record you can check later
Everything on the calendar — the plan, the swaps, the attendance notes — is part of the family's shared activity. Premium lets you export it as a chronological CSV or PDF for your own records. The export is not a legal document, and CoParent does not give legal advice; if you need to document parenting time for a court, speak with a qualified attorney about what they require.
Frequently asked questions
Can the calendar handle a 2-2-3 or week-on/week-off schedule?
Yes. Custody blocks are date ranges, so you add each block of the rotation (for example Mon–Tue, Wed–Thu, Fri–Sun) and repeat regular blocks weekly. See the guides for step-by-step setups.
Does it sync with Google Calendar or Apple Calendar?
Not in the current version. The custody calendar lives inside CoParent so both parents see the same record with swaps and attendance attached.
Can I see what the other parent changed?
Both parents see the same calendar, and swaps are recorded as requests with a status rather than silent edits.
